5 Meditation Tips

Meditation is key in remaining balanced and mindful in your day to day life. Currently, we live in a fast-paced world that constantly distracts us from getting in tune with ourselves. Technology has made it even harder to be connected with your inner self. When you are more in tune with yourself you will remain calm, centered, and be able to make decisions easier. It isn’t selfish to focus on yourself! In fact, when you are more grounded your friends, family, and coworkers will appreciate it.

It can be hard to start meditating without prior experience. Rather than attempting to jump into a meditative state, here are a few steps you can follow to make it easier to meditate:

1. Calming scent
Try lighting a candle or incense before preparing to meditate. If vanilla is your favorite scent, light a vanilla candle! Employ whatever smell helps you feel relaxed and at ease.

2. Breath
It is simple, just breath! Usually, you go throughout your day taking very shallow breaths. This isn’t the most relaxing breathing method for the body. Send signals to your body that it’s time to relax by taking deep breaths

3. Set your intention
Before attempting to meditate, think about what you want to accomplish or achieve during your meditation. It does not have to be a lofty goal, although it can be, it can be simple and concise. You could set your intention as experiencing more gratitude, relaxation, or receiving the job offer you recently applied for.

4. Comfy spot
Pick a comfortable chair or spot on the ground you make your meditation area. It is best to pick one spot to return to again and again.

5. Be easy on yourself
It’s not easy to start meditating, but it is worth it. If it doesn’t come naturally at first, be patient and rest assured you will improve as long as you remain consistent.
